Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Heftiest Hibiscus

Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Heftiest Hibiscus

Make-up look (A hypoallergenic look with Clinique) (1)

The Clinique Chubby Stick Intense is the even more pigmented version of the original Chubby Stick. The mango butter, shea butter and jojoba oil in the formula really nourish and hydrate the lips and the anti-oxidants provide extra protection. So you get the nourishing effect of a lip balm with the color intensity of a lipstick. Heftiest Hibiscus is a vibrant orangey red shade that will brighten up any look. Retail price: 29 CHF.

Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint in Mighty Moss
Make-up look (A hypoallergenic look with Clinique) (2)

The Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint is a jumbo eyeshadow pencil. The creamy formula is soft, glides on and stays put all day. I love to wear mossy greens and olive shades on my eyes, so it’s no surprise that I really like Mighty Moss. I think it’s the perfect shade for fall. Retail price: 29 CHF.

Clinique High Impact Extreme Volume Mascara in Extreme Black

Clinique High Impact Extreme Volume Mascara in Extreme Black

Make-up look (A hypoallergenic look with Clinique) (5)

The name says it all. This extremely black mascara promises extreme volume for dramatic-looking lashes. That’s a lot of extremes in one sentence. The color is indeed pitch black, but I wouldn’t really call the volumizing effect extreme. The mascara nicely separates my lashes, and it also thickens and lengthens them a bit. So it’s good, but not extreme. Retail price: 32.90 CHF.

Make-up look (A hypoallergenic look with Clinique) (4)

Not just the skin on your face and body can have an allergic or sensitive reaction to cosmetics, but so can the skin on your hands and fingers. I’ve never had a reaction to nail polish before, but for those who have Clinique recently developed a line of hypoallergenic nail polishes. But also people who don’t suffer from sensitive skin will love the A Different Nail Enamel nail lacquers, because the colors are great and the bottles are super sleek and pretty. The color that I have is called Party Red, a beautiful blood red shade that gives full coverage in just one coat. Retail price: 26 CHF.

Review | Inika Liquid Foundation, Mineral Blush & Mineral Eye Shadow

Review | Inika Liquid Foundation, Mineral Blush & Mineral Eye Shadow

Review (Inika Liquid Foundation, Mineral Blush & Mineral Eye Shadow) (3)

I’m going down under, because today I am showing you three products from the Australian luxury brand Inika. Inika is a natural cosmetics brand that was founded in 2006 and the brand produces certified organic and 100% mineral make-up products. Inika’s products are completely natural, contain only the best high-quality ingredients and are cruelty-free. So Inika’s philosophy is definitely beautiful. Now let’s see if the make-up products are just as pretty. Have a look!

Inika Liquid Foundation in Beige
The Inika Liquid Foundation is a liquid pump foundation that is suitable for all skin types. It nourishes the skin like a moisturizer and evens it out like a foundation. So is it a BB cream then? Not quite, because the coverage of the Inika Liquid Foundation is a lot higher than that of most BB creams. So your skin gets 100% natural hydration and protection, and you also get perfect coverage. I know it sounds cliché, but this foundation really gives you the best of both worlds! The texture of the Inika Liquid Foundation is very creamy and the product is easy to apply and spread out. The finish is very natural and dewy. And the smell is very pleasant. It’s a herbal scent that smells really luxurious. A nice little extra if you ask me. Girls, I rrreally like this product, I think it might be my new go-to foundation!

Inika Mineral Blush in Pink Pinch
Next up is the Inika Mineral Blush in Pink Pinch, a loose mineral blush with a built-in powder puff. How convenient. I had to adjust a bit to this way of applying blush, but the built-in powder puff is really soft and is easy to use. I like using it to add color to the apples of my cheeks. Prefer using your own blush brush? No problem, because the part with the puff can be removed and you’ll be left with a normal jar with a regular twist lid. Pink Pinch adds a soft pinch of pink to my cheeks that looks very delicate, sweet and natural. The color also has a bit of a sheen to it, which creates a subtle glowing effect. Pretty.

Review | Haackensack Original Wimpernlöffel

Review | Haackensack Original Wimpernlöffel

I usually begin my articles with a little intro before I continue with the actual review, but today I am going to do it differently. I want you to guess what the product that I am talking about today is, because it’s a peculiar little thing. This is how it landed in my mail box:
Review (Haackensaack Wimperloffel) (1)

And this is what was in it:
Review (Haackensaack Wimperloffel) (2)

Those who speak or understand German can probably guess what it is, but for the rest of you: what is this, and what is it for?
My boyfriend’s first guess was ‘a cooking thing for in the kitchen’ – he is so good with words – and when I told him that it had to do with beauty, he said: ‘something for your eyes.’ And it is. More or less anyway. The Original Wimpernlöffel from Haackensack is an eyelash spoon that facilitates the application of mascara. According to Haackensack the Original Wimpernlöffel allows you to really separate your lashes, with long full lashes with lots of curl as a result. The product promises to double the effect of any mascara. And mascara stains should be history as well. Now those are some promises!

But can this strange little tool really make that much difference? Time to put it to the test. The idea of the Haackensack Original Wimpernlöffel is easy: you just place the edge of the spoon on your lash line behind your lashes and you apply your mascara. Easy peasy. The shape of the spoon perfectly follows the natural curve of my lash line and it almost feels custom-made for me. For the sake of comparing I used the Haackensack Original Wimpernlöffel on just one eye and I have to admit that I didn’t see much difference between both eyes. I didn’t get any extra length or volume, except for maybe a little more curl. That’s probably because the spoon allows you to really pull your lashes up and back without the risk of smudging your mascara. It allows you to work quickly and tidily without having to correct mistakes afterwards.

| Mascara applied on my upper and lower lashes with the help of the Haackensack Original Wimpernlöffel

Bottom line? The Haackensack Original Wimpernlöffel doesn’t really add more length, volume or curl to my lashes, but it does make it easier to apply mascara very precisely from roots to ends without smudging. And that’s what I like about it. Removing mascara stains can be tricky, but with the Haackensack Original Wimpernlöffel you won’t have to anymore. And you can use the spoon for your lower lashes as well, which is great. Do I think that this product is an indispensable beauty must-have? No. It’s just a fun beauty tool. But it’s definitely more than just a toy. It really has a purpose. If you have short lashes that lack curl or if you’re tired of mascara smudges, then this little spoon might be what you need.
The Haackensack Original Wimpernlöffel costs 49 CHF. For more info and tutorials on how to use the lash spoon you can visit the Haackensack website.

Review | FOREO LUNA for combination skin

Review | FOREO LUNA for combination skin

Ever since the Clarisonic & co were unleashed upon the world, half of beauty land started using a face brush to cleanse their skin. But I didn’t. Until recently that is, because a few weeks ago I started using the brand new LUNA from FOREO. Never heard of it? Just wait, because I’m sure it won’t be long until this beauty tool conquers the world just like the Clarisonic did a while ago. Let’s have a closer look together.

Review (FOREO LUNA) (1)

Review (FOREO LUNA) (2)

FOREO’s LUNA is a new generation face ‘brush’ that uses T-Sonic pulsations to deeply yet at the same time gently cleanse the skin. Unlike many face brushes the LUNA doesn’t have bristles but instead it has smooth rounded silicon touch points, and that makes it softer and more gentle on the skin. It also makes the LUNA more hygienic and easier to clean than traditional face brushes. The LUNA is waterproof so you can just rinse it off or hold it under water. The transdermal pulsations of the device remove dirt, oil and make-up from the surface of the skin and from the pores, with perfectly cleansed skin as a result. They also remove dead skin cells for smoother and softer skin. And there is more, because the LUNA does not only have a cleansing function but also an anti-aging function. By using the back of the device and by using a lower frequency pulsation, the LUNA can diminish fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing the muscles and promoting cell renewal. So in a nutshell the product promises instantly deeply cleansed skin, and visibly clearer, healthier and smoother-looking skin in the long run. Not bad, huh?

Review (FOREO LUNA) (3)
So how do you use this strange little device? Easy. To cleanse your skin in the morning and in the evening you use the side with the rounded touch points. You use it for two minutes together with your regular face cleanser. So that could be a cleansing milk, a face wash or whatever you normally use. During those two minutes you gently move the LUNA up and down and from side to side, all over your face. You can adjust the frequency of the pulsations with the plus and minus buttons on the device. You can recharge the LUNA with the charger that comes with it and after a full recharge you should be good for up to 450 cleansing sessions. So you’re not stuck to a wire and you can walk around while cleansing, neat. To use the anti-aging function you use the back of the LUNA and a lower frequency pulsation. You should treat every part of your face for about 12 seconds, and just enjoy and relax.

Review (FOREO LUNA) (5)

I initially didn’t like the idea of having to cleanse my face for two whole minutes every morning and evening (booooring) but the LUNA actually feels so pleasant on my skin that now I look forward to it. The gentle movements and the pulsations have a very relaxing effect and before you know it those two minutes are up. And the anti-aging function has a really soothing effect on me as well. I often just hop in the couch with my LUNA and take my time to treat every part of my face. You can compare it to a do-it-yourself face massage. And boy, do I love massages!

Review (FOREO LUNA) (4)

And the results? I can confirm that the LUNA does a great job at cleansing my skin. I have (or had, rather) a lot of acne lately but ever since I started using the LUNA it’s been a lot better. I did have to go through a nasty purge phase with whiteheads showing up everywhere, but once I got through that my skin looked a lot better. I can’t really judge the long-term effects or the anti-aging effect of the LUNA yet, but so far I am very happy with my new toy and I will definitely continue to use it. I am officially following the face brush trend now, woohoo!
The LUNA is available on the FOREO website and costs 199$. FOREO ships worldwide. I have the version for combination skin, but there is also one for sensitive to normal skin and one for ultra-sensitive skin.
